Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
The ESXi host may experience PSOD, when using older version of Marvell firmware used for local drives.

The backtrace would be similar to:
 
ProcessActiveCommands@<vmw_ahci>
ExceptionHandlerWorld@<vmw_ahci>
vmkWorldFunc@vmkernel
CpuSched_StartWorld@vmkernel


Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 6.5
VMware vSphere ESXi 6.0
VMware vSphere ESXi 6.7

Cause

This is a known platform independence issue with Marvell AHCI controller firmware.

Resolution


Update the Marvell firmware to the latest firmware version.

Note: For firmware and firmware update instructions, contact your hardware vendor.

Workaround:
There is currently no workaround
