Changing the NSX upgrade target version in the middle of an upgrade

Issue/Introduction

• NSX version upgrade is in progress from version A to version B
• Edges and/or Hosts are partially or completely upgraded
• Manager upgrade has not yet started
• There is a requirement to change upgrade target version from B to C
• NSX version C is a version higher than B.
• Both upgrades A to C and B to C are supported per the Upgrade Path

Environment

VMware NSX
VMware NSX-T Data Center

Resolution

• Upload the Upgrade Bundle for version C and restart the upgrade.
• Run the prechecks and then proceed to upgrade Edge, Host and Manager components as normal.
• The mix of component versions will be handled automatically and all components will be upgraded to version C.

Note:

• The upgrade page will still display as "Continue Upgrade".
• Click the "Continue Upgrade" button.
• You will now see the option to reupload the MUB for the desired version and continue.
