Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • While connected to NSX-T manager -> System -> Backup & Restore, the cluster backup status shows as failed with:
"Bad ssh fingerprint for backup server"

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 3.9.x

Cause

During a VMware SDDC Manager migration upgrade, the fingerprint of old VMware SDDC Manager VM may be left behind in the NSX-T Manager backup settings, thus causing the NSX-T backup to fail.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware Cloud Foundation 3.9.1, currently there is no resolution. To workaround the issue please see the steps below.

Workaround:
  1. In a browser navigate to the NSX-T UI page.
  2. Navigate to System -> Backup & Restore.
  3. Under the Backup tab click on Edit.
  4. Remove the existing value in the SSH fingerprint text field and save the configuration. It will update the latest fingerprint.
  5. Reschedule the NSX-T upgrade in SDDC Manager UI.
