After the VMware Cloud Foundation 3.7.2. to 3.8 migration update, the Configuration Drift Upgrade fails

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Connection to the SDDC Manager UI will fail.
  • Refreshing the SDDC Manaager Manager UI leads to the UI being disconnected.
  • In the vCenter Web Client, There are 2 SDDC Manager VMs with the same IP address

sddc-manager
sddc-manager-3.7.2-old 


Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 3.8.x

Cause

As part of the last task after the Migration Update, the older SDDC Manager VM should have been powered off and unregistered. The tasks silently fails and leaves the VM powered on in the inventory.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, login to the vCenter Web Client and power off the old SDDC Manager VM named sddc-manager-3.7.2-old, then un-register the VM. 

Restart the Configuration Drift upgrade to proceed.
