Upgrade precheck shows status as RED due to EMM dry run check failure

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Upgrade precheck shows status as RED due to EMM dry run check failure.
• If upgrade is triggered, it fails at Host cluster upgrade as Hosts cannot enter MM.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 3.9.x

Cause

• This is due to a limitation on NSX-T 2.5.0.0: Edge nodes are virtual.
• The hosts that have edges cannot enter MM without edge appliances being powered off

Resolution

1. Start NSX-T upgrade from SDDC Manager.
2. Wait for upgrade to complete on UC and Edge cluster.
3. Turn off edge appliances from VC when Edge cluster upgrade passes post validate in LCM.
4. Wait for Host clusters to be upgraded.
5. Turn on edges after Host cluster upgrade passes post validate in LCM.
6. Let upgrade proceed with NSX Manager cluster upgrade
