Smarts NCM - How to Enable Debug for the NCM-AS Service

How to enable debug for the ncm-as service introduced in NCM 9.4.

 



To enable debug logging for the ncm-as service, follow these steps:

1. On the Application/Combination Server, source voyence at the cli: source /etc/voyence
2. Now browse to the following location: cd $VOYENCE_HOME/ncmcore/webapps/ncm-webapp/WEB-INF/classes
3. Open the following file to edit: vi log4j.xml
4. Search for the following string: /"com.powerup"



5. The following screenshot shows the section to edit:



6. To enable debug, change <priority value="INFO" /> to: <priority value="DEBUG" />



7. Save the changes to the file: !wq
8. Restart the ncm-as service: service ncm-as restart

The following location holds the Application related logs:

$VOYENCE_HOME/ncmcore/logs

The following log files will now contain debug level logging:

server.log
powerupevents.log
powerup.log
voyence-audit.log
compliance-audit.log
credential-rollout.log
saml.log



Additional Information

NCM introduced a new service setup in NCM 9.4. This was due to a product update to accommodate the removal of Jboss from NCM 9.4. The ncm-as service runs on the Application/Combination Server and controls services and logging for Application Server related functions.
