Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
You see an alarm indicating: vSphere HA failover in progress in Cluster

No VMs are actually failed over

No issues are noted in Horizon or with the ESXi hosts

HA Master host's FDM service may stop.

Environment

VMware vSphere 7.0.x
VMware vSphere 6.7.x

Cause

The VMs are deleted from vSphere before they are unprotected from HA, resulting in vCenter issuing a false failover alarm.
VMs removed from vsphere continue to remain in FDM inventory, if the number of VMs in FDM inventory becomes large enough, FDM process memory will exceed its allowed quota, causing problems with the FDM service.

Resolution

This is a known issue that will be resolved in future release of vSphere.

Workaround:
If FDM service on the host that was originally the HA master has stopped and does not start automatically, disable>enable cluster HA.
