Issue/Introduction

  • A VLCR Cloud File System when running low on storage space will show alert , "Cloud file system CFS_Name is running low on internal storage. This might result in downtime. Contact support."
  • Usage of the datastore will show as overlimit, sometimes no space left.
  • Alarms and error shows as no space left.
  • Snapshots will fail in Protection Groups.

Environment

VMware Live Cyber Recovery 7.27.x

VMware Live Cyber Recovery 7.26.x

Cause

This issue occurs due to stale snapshots or old snapshots piling up and stored beyond the expiration date set in the retention policy. These snapshots will consume space on the cloud filesystem and report alerts in the protection groups once the space is full.

Resolution

VLCR does daily scans to ensure the Cloud File System is sufficient in each environment, and has automated tickets created when the CFS breaks a certain threshold of 80% utilization. The Capacity usage is computed as part of a background storage space reclamation job that runs every 13 hours. For more information refer Cloud Filesystem information .

Alternatively, consider reconfiguration of retention policies for larger sized Protection groups. Refer documentation here Or manually delete PG snapshots if you know they will consume more space. Refer Delete Snapshots
