Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Virtual Machines may appear in the Virtual Machine inventory in the VCDR UI, although they have been removed from all Protection Groups.

Cause

This cosmetic issue can be caused if the associated VMs were part of a failover test which generates ad-hoc snapshots. Until these snapshots are deleted, the VMs will remain in the inventory within the UI.

Resolution

Please create a Support Request with VMware Global Support to have the ad-hoc snapshots deleted.
The following information will be needed:
  • Org ID
  • Recovery SDDC ID (if applicable)
  • Impacted VM name(s)
  • Protection Group that the VM(s) were removed from (if applicable)

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:
There is no impact besides the VM(s) still showing up in the VM inventory. Ad-hoc snapshots are taken by the system when a failover/failback is initiated and customers do not have access to delete these snapshots.
