When using driver lsi_mr3 version 7.703.15.00-1OEM or below you may get the error "Bootbank cannot be found at path '/bootbank' message occurred"

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• ESXi goes to a non-responding state
• Fails to obtain a core dump through the NMI button manually. The following error message is observed when attempting to do so:
  Bootbank cannot be found at path '/bootbank' message.

• Core dump and vmkernel log couldn't be gathered when the issue occurred because of inaccessible bootbank.
• Sometimes the host goes unresponsive, or a PSOD occurs.
• Is using driver lsi_mr3 of version 7.703.15.00-1OEM or below.

 

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 6.5

Cause

This is known issue with lsi_mr3 driver.

Resolution

To remediate the issue, upgrade the driver to version lsi_mr3 7.706.09.00 or above.
