Aria Automation v.8.13.1 integrated with Operations v.8.12x and zones with ADVANCED placement policy in Automation.
Fallback is set to DEFAULT.
The zone has 2 vSphere clusters assigned to it as compute resources.
When a new VM is requested, provisioning fails at VM allocation stage with the following error:
"OPS recommendation failed " error. See full error below. VM Provisioning is successful when zone policy is changed to anything except ADVANCED. Full error in Aria Automation, at allocation stage: "Error: OPS recommendation failed due to:[ advanced policy filter:VMware Aria Operations failed to recommend due to 'VMware Aria Operations unable to place workload [xxxxx-xxxx-xxxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxx] of ComputeDescription [/resources/compute-descriptions/xxxxx-xxxx-xxxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxx]: response contains no compute target recommendation.'.].
The issue has been found with lingering objects in the default policy
to resolve the issue:
1) Export default policy (in this case important to recover Default policy). No need to delete that policy in this case,
2) Import the exported default policy back, with "Override" option, to replace existing one.
3) Check the use case again.
Advanced placement will not work if there are lingering object in the default policy.
VM advancement placement workflows will be impacted.
