unable to upgrade aria operations manager

Issue/Introduction

Aria Operations Manager is running 8.12x, and upgrade to a newer version is failing. 

FIPS mode is enabled. 

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.12.x and later. 

Cause

While upgrading:

• the screen goes blank
• The devices in the cluster reboot
• After reboot we are unable to reach the admin console.
• Waiting for for admin console indefinitely, but nothing happens.
  
  

 

 

 

Resolution

Try the following steps:

 

1. Run APUAT (Pre-Upgrade Assessment) 
2. check if hardening / STIG have been applied on the nodes
3. Check / verify if FIPS is enabled (see Additional Information below) 
4. Check / verify if httpd is running (restart if needed: systemctl restart httpd)
5. Check if the customer has taken backup prior to applying STIGS
