[VCDR] VM failing to power on after test failover

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

One server could not be powered on due to a hostname issue. The error in the log file is <Date & Time> Error Do not power on VM <vm-name> as the guest customization was skipped

<Date & Time> Warning Cannot customize VM <vm-name> with unsupported guest hostname <vm's-FQDN>. The hostname cannot be unset. It can only have letters, numbers, and hyphens (-); it cannot contain periods (.), underscores (_), or blank spaces.

<Date & Time> Info VM <vm-name> restored from snapshot <Protection Group name> - <Date & Time> 


Cause

This is expected behavior when a VM contains an unsupported character in its hostname

Resolution

Remove the unsupported characters from the VM's hostname.

Workaround:
You can manually power on the VM, however it will continue to encounter the issue until hostname is resolved.

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:
VM will not automatically be powered on following failover test.
