Unable to perform cross-cluster migration of vTPM enabled VM's on same vCenter server

Issue/Introduction

  • In a cluster some of VM's are enabled with vTPM.
  • While migrating those vTPM enabled VMs to other Clusters on same VC : "Error: A DRS fault has occurred, while retrieving VM placement recommendations: xvMotionPlacement"
  • vTPM enabled VMs successfully migrate within the Cluster
  • Cloud Link Key Provider (KMS) is configured on VC.
  • Trust Authority is not configured in the Environment.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 7.0.x

Cause

The required Key is not present on ESXi hosts of Destination cluster

Resolution

Issue is resolved in vCenter 7.0 Update 3q and 8.0 update 2b
