Issue/Introduction

This article provides the step to verify wrong VR extension entries in SRM xml file.

Symptoms:

• You can still create Recovery Plan without issues
• When you try to create Protection Group you are giving bellow error:

Unable to create protection group. No VRM Server registered with vCenter Server...

Environment

VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 8.x

Resolution

Note: Take vmware-dr.xml backup before you proceed when applying below change.

To resolve this issue, verify SRM vmware-dr.xml for the the following entries hmsKey and hmsType and remove them.

For appliance:
/opt/vmware/srm/conf/vmware-dr.xml

<extension>
<hmsKey>com.vmware.vcHcx</hmsKey>
<hmsType>com.vmware.hcx</hmsType>
</extension

Restart SRM services and then attempt to create Protection Group
