Issue/Introduction

This article is intended to explain why you will see Nimble iscsi targets reattched after Site Recovery Manager test/cleanup.

Symptoms:

Static Nimble iSCSI target entries on ESXi hosts reattached after SRM Test / Cleanup

Environment

VMware Site Recovery Manager 8.x

Cause

Nimble support reports that certain Nimble OS builds have a default setting for "volume-scope-target" which does not go back and cleanup detached scsi targets.  The other option is group-scope-target which has a built in mechanism to cleanup and detach additional iscsi targets (iqn).

Resolution

This is a Nimble OS configuration issue. Contact Nimble Support.

Workaround:

 Manually remove Static Target IPs

  1. In the vSphere Client, navigate to the ESXi host.
  2. Click the Configure tab.
  3. Under Storage, click Storage Adapters, and select the iSCSI adapter to modify from the list.
  4. Switch between Dynamic Discovery and Static Discovery.
  5. Select an iSCSI server to remove and click Remove.
  6. Rescan the iSCSI adapter.
