Resolution

Using a Microsoft or 3rd Party iSCSI Initiator within a virtual machine guest operating system

3rd party software iSCSI initiators are available for download and, depending on their minimum requirements, can be successfully installed onto a supported guest operating system running in a virtual machine. If you use a 3rd party initiator in your VMware environment, see Running a Third-Party iSCSI initiator in the Virtual Machine in the SAN System Design and Deployment Guide for ESXi 4.x and 5.0

If you encounter connectivity issues using a 3rd party software iSCSI initiator to the 3rd party storage device, engage the 3rd party vendors for assistance. If the 3rd party vendors determine that the issue is due to a lack of network connectivity to the virtual machine, contact VMware for help troubleshooting assistance.
