Adding EMC SRDF Adapter fails when trying to add the Array Manager

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Attempting to set up the array manager for Site Recovery Manager (SRM) fails.
  • You see the error:

    Unable to add array manager. SRA command 'discoverArrays' failed. Failed to connect to the array management host. Please check EmcSrdfSra logs for more information on the error


Environment

VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 5.0.x

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install and configure Solutions Enabler (SE) on the SRM servers, then start (and set to autostart) the SYMAPI daemons:

Note:
  1. On both SRM servers (the Production and Recovery sites), run these commands to set the daemons to autostart:

    stordaemon install storapid –autostart
    stordaemon install storsrvd –autostart
    stordaemon install storrdfd –autostart

     
  2. Also on both SRM servers, run these commands to start the daemons:

    stordaemon start storapid
    stordaemon start storsrvd
    stordaemon start storrdfd

     
  3. Check if the three daemons are running by running the stordaemon list command on both SRM servers.

    Successful output example:

    [*] storapid EMC Solutions Enabler Base Daemon
    storgnsd EMC Solutions Enabler GNS Daemon
    [*] storrdfd EMC Solutions Enabler RDF Daemon
    storevntd EMC Solutions Enabler Event Daemon
    storsrmd EMC Solutions Enabler SRM Daemon
    storstpd EMC Solutions Enabler STP Daemon
    [*] storsrvd EMC Solutions Enabler SYMAPI Server Daemon

     
  4. Enable the Array Pair again.
