Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • The user would see task failure related to "Rename Virtual Machine".
  • The "Rename Virtual Machine" task is initiated by com.vmware.vim.eam and it will fail with the error message "The operation is not allowed in the current state".
 


Environment

VMware vSAN 7.0.x

Cause

  • The task "Rename Virtual Machine" initiated by vSphere ESX Agent Manager is conflicting with another File Service VM upgrade operation. The "Rename Virtual Machine" task is rejected by the upgrade operation.

Resolution

It has been identified that the error is harmless and would not impact any operations.
