vVols Datastore Inaccessible state, can’t add VASA for the Storage array from the vCenter given "The Specified provider URL is invalid"

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Cannot add VASA for the Storage Array from the vCenter given "The Specified provider URL is invalid".
vVols Datastore Inaccessible state. 

Cause

Example:

• Adding VASA from Storage Array failed.
• Can’t add VASA from the vCenter given "The Specified provider URL is invalid.
• ​​​​​

 

• Curl command from vCenter to VASA Provider succeeds:
• 

 

• Openssl command succeeds. 
• 

 

Resolution

This issue will occur when the maximum number of sessions permitted on the VASA Provider is reached. This need to be checked from the storage array logs.

Workaround:
The below steps should be done from the Storage Array Side not VMware side.

•  On the VASA Provider confirm that the maximum number of permitted sessions has been reached:
  • e.g via use the netsat command.
• Restart the service from the Storage Array.
• Add the VASA Provider.
