Symptoms:




SAM reports a device in a different class than underlying AM server

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

SAM receiving topology information from another domain besides AM.

Resolution

1. Find the device in SAM through find instance and expand the instance.
2. Expand the MemberOf relationship and then expand the InCharge domain relationship.
3. Identify the domains where Smarts is building its topology from and identify how each underlying domain is categorizing this device.
4. Make sure that each underlying domain has the device in the same class.
