Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
What Linux Operating System (OS) patches/libraries are required for Smarts 9.1, 9.2 & 9.3  applications to run on Linux Redhat 5 and 6

The following message may be seen when installing Smarts software:

Bundled JRE is not binary compatible with host OS/Arch or it is corrupt.  Testing bundled JRE failed.

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

Whenever the system doesn t have all the needed packages, you will see the above error.

Resolution

Depending on the image you have and if you installed a minimum OS, you will have to install a few packages.

Be sure to Install all of the packages in the Install guide.  After doing so you may still need to install some basic Linux packages.  The installer runs some commands, and those commands may not exist because they aren t installed.

For Smarts 9.1, 9.3 and 9.3  products The following libraries are required to run in Linux Redhat 5 or 6 operating environments:

IMPORTANT! When installing on a 64-bit Linux platform, both 64-bit and 32-bit libraries are required.

glibc-2.2.4-32.i386
glibc-2.2.4-32.x86_64
glibc-common-2.2.4-32
compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-61.x86_64
compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.3.i686
redhat-lsb library (SMARTS 9.3 only)

Smarts SAM Console additional library requirements
In addition to the above, the following libraries are required to run the Smarts Service Assurance Manager (Smarts SAM) Console depending on the RHEL version (5 and 6)

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6:

libstdc++-4.4.6-3.el6.i686.rpm
libXi-1.3-3.el6.i686.rpm
libXext-1.1-3.el6.i686.rpm
libXtst-1.0.99.2-3.el6.i686.rpm
libXrender-0.9.5-1.el6.i686  (SMARTS 9.3 only)

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5:

libstdc++ 4.1.2-44.el5.i386
libXi-1.0.1-3.1.i386
libXext-1.0.1-2.1.i386
libXtst-1.0.1-3.1.i386
