Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
SVIF-CI-E-Unable to resolve "hostname".  DNS-Unknown host [authoritative]
DNS-Unknownhost authoritative error message results from incorrect hostname in DNS in SMARTS

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

Device may not resolve in DNS or in /etc/hosts file.

Resolution

Verify that device name will resolve to an IP and that the IP will resolve back to the hostname of the device in etc\hosts file or DNS.
