Related objects tabs are empty in vSphere Client

Issue/Introduction

This article provides a workaround for a UI issue in vSphere Client.

Symptoms:
No data is populated in one or more of the related objects tabs - Datacenters, Hosts & Clusters, Resource Pools, VMs, Datastores, Networks, Linked vCenter Server Systems.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 6.x

Cause

A global or object specific custom attribute, which contains a single quote (') in its name, exists in the environment.

Resolution

The issue will be resolved in a future vCenter release. At this time, there is no resolution.

Workaround:
Remove all single quotes from custom attribute name. This can be done as follows: 

1.  Select the corresponding object in the inventory tree that contains custom attributes with single quotes in their name.
2. Click the Summary tab.
3. Click Edit on custom attributes card.
4. Remove all single quotes from the Attribute column.
