Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Usage Meter stops collecting Cloud Director usage data. The following error appears in the Notification tab of the Usage Meter web application:

The following information is also seen in the Cloud Director collector logs in Usage Meter.

Environment

VMware vCloud Usage Meter 4.x

Cause

The error is due to incompatibility between the version of the Usage Meter instance and Cloud Director.
The Cloud Director usage collection works by exchanging information between the Usage Meter and Cloud Director API. Once the Usage Meter API finds that the metered product API is not compatible, it stops exchanging information, and the metering stops.

Resolution

Procedure

To solve this issue:
  1. Check which supported Usage Meter version meters the version of the Cloud Director you use.  Information can be found on the VMware Interoperability Matrix.
  2. Check if the Cloud Director version you use is end-of-support on the VMware Lifecycle Matrix.
  3. Depending on the information found in the previous steps, either change the Usage Meter version to avoid incompatibility or upgrade your Cloud Director instance if it is end-of-support.
