Usage data uploaded to vCloud Usage Insight for Usage Meter in offline mode receives "Usage data is uploaded outside of the reporting period" message

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

When a customer uploads usage data to vCloud Usage Insight for Usage Meter in offline mode, after the first 48 hours of the next month, they will receive a message that the usage data is uploaded outside the reporting period.

Note: The end of the reporting month is on the last day of the month at 12:00 AM UTC. For example, if the reporting period ends on June 30th, at 12:00 AM UTC, the usage data must be uploaded to Usage Insight until July 2nd, at 11:59 AM UTC.

Cause

This message appears if the data upload for Usage Meter in offline mode happens outside the reporting period, which is the first 48 hours of the following month. vCloud Usage Insight will let the user upload even after the first 48 hours of the next month, but automatic data processing and report generation will not happen.

Resolution

This is expected behavior as vCloud Usage Insight only processes usage data automatically when uploaded within the first 48 hours of the following month.
 

Note: If the data is uploaded outside the reporting period and Usage Insight has performed data processing, Usage Insight will not automatically push the reports to the VMware Commerce Portal. In this case, a blank MBO will be generated after 72 hours in the VMware Commerce Portal, and the customer will need to report the points from Usage Insight manually.
