Issue/Introduction
Symptoms: After adding NSX-T to the Usage Meter 4.X web application, the status of the connection to the product shows "Incomplete collection".
The nsxt_main.log shows the following message, although the associated vCenter Server has its certificate accepted.
[2021-11-22 11:29:43] | WARN | X-T collector thread | com.vmware.um.collector.CollectionHelper | NSX-T collector6 | Displaying warning notification: A vCenter server must be registered or have its certificate accepted
Environment
VMware vCloud Usage Meter 4.x
VCF Usage Meter 9.0
Cause
The issue happens if vCenter is registered with an IP address in the NSX Manager while in the Usage Meter web application, it is registered with its FQDN and vice versa.
Resolution
Check how vCenter is registered in NSX Manager. Add vCenter to Usage Meter the same way it was added in the NSX Manager.
If vCenter is registered with an IP address in the NSX Manager, it must also be registered using the same IP address in the Usage Meter web application. Conversely, if vCenter is registered using its FQDN in the NSX Manager, it should be registered with the FQDN in the Usage Meter as well.
Additional Information
If the vCenter FQDN ends with .local, you may see the error that Usage Meter cannot resolve the vCenter FDQN because of the .local domain. Check KB article 83945 to fix the vCenter Server resolution issue. After that, add vCenter to Usage Meter 4.X.
