How to switch from Offline to Online mode in vCloud Usage Meter

Issue/Introduction

Switching from Usage Meter in Offline mode to Usage Meter in Online mode is not currently supported. To change your Usage Meter operation mode from Offline to Online, you need to redeploy your Usage Meter in Online mode and add your VMware products to it anew.

Environment

VCF Usage Meter 4.x
VCF Usage Meter 9.0

Resolution

Procedure:

1. Deploy a new Usage Meter in Online mode, we will call it UM-ONLINE.
    Please refer to the "Deploy the VCF Usage Meter Appliance" for more information.

2. Register UM-ONLINE in the VCF Business Services Console in Production mode.
    Please refer to the "Register the VCF Usage Meter Appliance in the VCF Business Services Console" for more information.

3. Add the same VMware products into UM-ONLINE as your Usage Meter in offline mode (UM-OFFLINE).
    Please refer to the "Managing the Metering in VCF Usage Meter" for more information.
