Best practices when using actions in custom forms in VMware Aria Automation

Issue/Introduction

• A custom form is taking a long time to provide the results of an action in VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator (formerly vRealize Orchestrator).
• As a best practice, VMware suggests using actions that complete within 1 second for a better user experience.
• The Service Broker form times out at 60 seconds, actions taking more than 30 seconds are not recommended.
• If the action is returning more than 1000 results the browser provides the following alerts.

 

Environment

VMware vRealize Orchestrator 8.x
VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator 8.x

Resolution

Modify the VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator action to return less than 1000 items, otherwise, this will affect the performance of the form and the customer experience.

Refactor the code in the action so it can be executed in less than 30 seconds.
