Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

After upgrading vRA/vRO the vROps Management Pack for vRealize Orchestrator is not authenticating.

Upgrading vRO to 8.8 to later version will disable the basic authentification on vRO as indicated in the VMware vRealize Orchestrator 8.8 Release Notes in the Resolved issues section.

Cause

This is due to the Basic Authentication configuration being disabled after the upgrade.  This is what vROps Management Pack uses to authenticate.

Resolution

You can enable basic authentication for your vRealize Orchestrator deployment by setting a system property.

The basic authentication of your vRealize Orchestrator deployment is disabled by default. In certain use cases you must enable this authentication by setting the com.vmware.o11n.sso.basic-authentication.enabled system property. For example, you must enable this system property if you are planning on using the vRealize Orchestrator Multi-Node plug-in for deployments which are authenticated with vRealize Automation.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Control Center as root.
  2. Select System Properties.
  3. Click New.
  4. Under Key, enter com.vmware.o11n.sso.basic-authentication.enabled.
  5. Under Value, enter true.
  6. (Optional) Enter a description for the new system property.
  7. Click Add, and wait for the vRealize Orchestrator server to restart.
