Issue/Introduction

IMPORTANT:

Following the VMware by Broadcom Day 2 transition on May 6, 2024, Customer Connect has been migrated to the Broadcom Support. This migration impacts the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle as follows:

  • All Product Support Packs, along with product and patch binaries, will now need to be downloaded from the Broadcom Support Portal

  • Users must then manually map these into the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle

  • Additionally, all online download methods previously available in the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle will be disabled in the user interface upon upgrading to our next release.

See, VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.16 Release Notes  VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle Release Notes.

Symptoms:

  • After configuring a valid proxy server in VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager (vRSLCM), the online upgrade from System Settings page fails and UI throws red blank box error.
  • In the /var/log/vrlcm/vmware-vrlcm.log,you will see message similar to:
Failure: Error downloading manifest. Please contact your vendor. Could not resolve: vapp-updates.vmware.com (Timeout while contacting DNS servers) URL: https://vapp-updates.vmware.com/vai-catalog/valm/vmw/ae387433-13cd-4f03-ac43-8096dfada2ba/8.0.1.12.latest/manifest/manifest-latest.xml

Note: This issue doesn't impact for upgrades to VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.14 or later. Because the cap service is used instead of the vami service.

Environment

  • VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.x
  • VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.x

Cause

This issue is caused when the online upgrade of vRSLCM fails over proxy.

Resolution

Currently, there is no resolution.

Workaround: Enable the VAMI proxy manually and disable it once upgrade is complete.

As of May 6, 2024, this workaround is no longer applicable. Please use the offline installation method until further notice.
