Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • You are using NSX-T data center gateways, Tier 1 and/or Tier 0.
  • When creating or editing the gateways, you receive the error:

  • In the NSX-T manager /var/log/syslog you will see error as below: 

2022-12-22T20:35:00.995Z nsxmgr1.corp.local NSX 4842 - [nsx@6876 comp="nsx-manager" errorCode="IDAS0" level="ERROR" subcomp="manager"] [IDAS0] Pool uuid {#012 left: 12285730275678177387#012 right: 9340908718752779582#012}#012 has no free ids

  • This can occur when adding gateway firewall rules also.


Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center
VMware NSX-T Data Center 4.x

Cause

IDAS (ID Allocation Service) has a range of 1 billion UUID's available to use when creating Gateway firewall rule's. These ID's are not reused when the Gateway firewall rule is deleted.
This Error is generated when the range is exhausted.

Resolution

This is a known issue impacting NSX-T Data Center.
