Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
User can observe duplicate IP addresses assigned to the Service Insertion nodes.
The issue is more likely to occur when IP pool is larger than number of deployed Service VMs.

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center
VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.x

Cause

IP addresses in the Service Insertion IP pool are not marked as permanent, and may be recycled back to the pool.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in NSX-T Data Center 3.2.0.1 and in NSX-T 3.1.3.3, available at VMware downloads.

Workaround:
Create IP pool for Service Insertion nodes, that will match number of deployed SI nodes.

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:
IP addresses in the Service Insertion IP pool may be recycled back and assigned to the newly deployed Service Insertion nodes consuming the pool.
