Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
When deploying a SVM (Service Virtual Machine) for Service insertion, Service Deployment in High Availability (HA) mode, it fail's with error in the log /var/log/cm-inventory/cm-inventory.log:
ERROR http-nio-127.0.0.1-7443-exec-4 OvfDeploy - SYSTEM [nsx@6876 comp="nsx-manager" errorCode="MP40409" level="ERROR" subcomp="cm-inventory"] Ovf deploy failed for vm ServiceInsertion-NS-0d1e6b6e-aa0c-4332-b272-a7cf33da7e82-1 on vc 192.168.110.10 with error 'Host did not have any virtual network defined.'
Note: Above 'ServiceInsertion-NS-0d1e6b6e-aa0c-4332-b272-a7cf33da7e82-1' will be unique per SVM deployment.
The ESXi host does not have a standard vSwitch.

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center

Cause

When deploying service insertion in HA mode, there needs to be a standard vSwitch on the host so the SVM HA NIC's can connect to it.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting NSX-T Data Center.

Workaround:

Create a standard vSwitch with "VM Network" portgroup on the host's.
