Traffic fails when configuring an NSX-T transport node with ENS Interrupt mode

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • NSX-T version is 3.2 or above.
  • You are configuring a transport node(s) to use ENS (Enhanced Networking Stack) with interrupt mode.
  • You are using an NVDS (NSX-T Managed Virtual Distributed Switch) for this configuration.
  • When the host is configured with ENS Standard mode, the traffic works fine.
  • When the host is reconfigured to use ENS Interrupt mode, the traffic fails.
  • You are running driver: 
nmlx5 async driver 4.21.71.101
  • In the vmkernel.log of the host we can see the ENS Interrupt mode was set correctly:
2023-05-16T11:32:00.076Z cpu0:2097509)ENS: 1392: Setting ENS mode to 2 for DvsPortset-0

Cause

There is a known issue with the partner driver when using ENS and NSX-T 3.2 or above.

Workaround:
Upgrade the NIC driver/firmware to at least 4.22.73.1004. Please consult with partner and the VMware interoperability matrix before upgrading.
