Issue/Introduction
You have renamed an NSX edge node Display name: System - Fabric - Nodes, tick the Edge Node and then click EDIT, and changed the Name and clicked SAVE.
When editing or adding a new interface on the logical router, the edge node Display name still shows the edge nodes old Display name.
Or else, the T0 external interface's edge field shows as 'not set' and while creating new interfaces(external/loopback) displays the edge drop-down field as empty (see below screenshot)
Environment
VMware NSX
Cause
The Edge Node is part of an Edge Cluster, the edge nodes Display name is used for the Edge Custer member Display name.
When the edge nodes Display name was changed, it did not correctly reflect on the edge node cluster list of edge nodes.
Resolution
This issue is resolved in VMware NSX 4.2.0
Workaround:
Go to the cluster which the edge node is a member of: System - Fabric - Nodes - Edge Cluster.
Tick the edge cluster and click EDIT.
Alter the Description field and SAVE. This will allow the cluster configuration to be pushed.
Now the new edge node display name should correctly display when selecting it for a logical router interface.
