Issue/Introduction

This article provides information about the VMware SDDC on IBM Cloud – Advanced V1.0.

Resolution

Disclaimer: The VMware SDDC on IBM Cloud – Advanced V1.0 is developed and supported by IBM, and validated by VMware. You must obtain the solution and support from IBM. For more information, see the Virtualization Architecture.

Use Cases

The VMware SDDC on IBM Cloud solution allows you to leverage VMware software components in the IBM Cloud to build a VMware Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) of a standardized format and architecture. You can build a private and hybrid cloud to extend or move their on-premises workloads into the IBM Cloud. This enables companies to address issues such as migration of workloads to the cloud, establishing cloud based backup and disaster scenarios, and the ability to set up development, test, training or lab capacity. All by exploiting the operational benefits and agility of IBM Cloud in combination with a certified architecture that is backed by VMware. Additional servers can be added to meet increased capacity of over 10,000 sized virtual guest servers per region.

Solution Capabilities

The VMware SDDC on IBM Cloud – Advanced provides the basic building blocks for a highly scalable and automated VMware on IBM Cloud that can be easily integrated with on-premises and public clouds based on the VMware platform.
Preconfigured Cloud building blocks that include several bare metal servers and associated VMware stack provide a starting point for scalability, automation and seamless integration to the hybrid cloud. This provides short time to value and cost effective implementation using best practices.

IBM provided open patterns can be used to rapidly deploy advanced applications in to this environment.

Support Information

The VMware Ready Certified Partner Architecture program certifies partner solution architecture based its compliance to VMware Validated Design IT Automation Cloud 1.0. For more information on the VMware Validated Designs, see the VMware Validated Designs for Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) page. This certification agreement is between VMware and the certified partner for a specific solution architecture only. The partner solution architecture referenced in this article is developed and supported by a partner. Partner must ensure that the solution architecture is deployed on VMware supported hardware and align hardware with VMware Compatibility Guide (vCG) or custom VMware support agreement (RPQ).
