Issue/Introduction

An error is encountered during VMware Tools installation, specifically when attempting to locate Microsoft Visual C++ 2019.

Cause

During the installation of VMware Tools on Windows operating systems, the process attempts to upgrade the existing Microsoft Visual C++ version to one compatible with the new tools version. Should any issues exist with the previously installed C++ version, the installation will subsequently fail.

Resolution

Note: The issue lies with the Microsoft Windows Installer, not with VMware Tools.

1. Identify the version of the problematic C++ program, which is typically listed at the end of the error message, and locate the corresponding download.

2. Execute the installer.

3. Repair the corrupted legacy C++ installation.

4. Re-initiate the VMware Tools installation process.
