Issue/Introduction

The vCenter Server configured in High Availability (HA) mode is not supported for upgrade through vSphere+

Resolution

Please follow below mentioned steps to upgrade vCenter:
 

Step 1: Steps to remove vCenter High Availability

  1. In vSphere UI navigate to "Configure/vCenter HA"
  2. Click "REMOVE VCENTER HA" button.
  3. In the pop-up box, check "Delete Passive and Witness node VMs" check-box.
This action will destroy VCHA configuration and delete Passive and Witness Virtual Machines.


Step 2: Steps to vCenter Server Upgrade

Please refer, "Update your vCenter" for desired vCenter version. Ensure to select the appropriate product version  from the  Selected product version dropdown.


Step 3: Steps to configure vCenter High Availability

  1. In vSphere UI navigate to "Configure/vCenter HA".
  2. Click "SETUP VCENTER HA" and follow VCHA Setup Wizard.
