Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 8.0.x

Cause

This issue occurs when the destination vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA) is rebooted between stage 1 and stage 2. Some install parameters are stored in memory and are not retained across reboot.

Resolution

Do not reboot the destination VCSA between Stage 1 and Stage 2. If the destination VCSA is rebooted during the upgrade, re-initialize the upgrade.
