Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
After polling with SNMP (for example snmpwalk) for a SD-WAN Edge, the result of CPU utilization is 0.
The OID used is ".1.3.6.1.4.1.45346.1.1.2.2.2"

This started happening after upgrading the edge to any of the following versions:
  • 5.2.0.0
  • 5.1.1.0
  • 5.4.0.0
  • 4.5.2 (20231025-GA)

Environment

VMware SD-WAN
VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud

Cause

This is because the following OIDs for CPU Utilization are deprecated and replaced in newer versions.

Old OIDs:
vceCpuUtilPct5min                  .1.3.6.1.4.1.45346.1.1.2.2.2.1
vceCpuUtilPct30sec               .1.3.6.1.4.1.45346.1.1.2.2.2.2

Note:
CPU load percentage calculation:
CPU load percentage = CPU_Load_Average / Number_of_CPU_Cores * 100%

Resolution

For the new versions, use the following OIDs:

  • edged_mem_usage_pct      .1.3.6.1.4.1.45346.1.1.2.2.2.3
  • cpu_300s_avg_pct              .1.3.6.1.4.1.45346.1.1.2.2.2.4
  • cpu_60s_avg_pct                .1.3.6.1.4.1.45346.1.1.2.2.2.5

For older versions, use the legacy OIDs
