SD-WAN Edge experiencing Dataplane Service failures

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
SD-WAN Edges shows dataplane service failures on standalone edges and experience HA failover on HA enabled devices due to these failures.

Issue affects SD-WAN Edges running 5.1.x and onwards that have not been upgraded to a fixed version.

VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud

Cause

This is caused by known issue 131891.

The issue can be encountered when the SD-WAN Edge is handling a large traffic load that keeps the Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) engine busy handling HTTPs traffic featuring Server Name Identifier name strings greater than 32 bytes.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware SD-WAN Edge version 5.2.2.0 (R5220-20231213-GA).

Workaround:
Disable DPI through AppMap settings for all applications.
