VMware Cloud Director Cell startup fails to complete with error " Duplicate key (VM,disk.read.average)"

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

1. The cell start-up gets stuck at 81%
2. cell runtime logs complain about duplicate metrics

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

This occurs due to duplication of the metrics in the vCloud Director database and as a result, the cell startup fails to complete.

Resolution

Database modifications are required to reduce the size of vCD database and this is to be done under the supervision of Broadcom Technical Support. Please open a Support request with Broadcom.
