"The vCenter Performance stats are not available" error after upgrading to vRealize Business for Cloud 7.2

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

After upgrading to vRealize Business for Cloud 7.2, you see these symptoms:
 
  • Cost calculation fails.
  • In the itfm-server.log file, you see the error similar to:

    WARN [tomcat-http--21] c.v.i.c.c.s.b.s.SystemHealthHelper - The vCenter Performance stats are not available. Please check vCenter rollup jobs are running properly on this vCenter server:



Environment

VMware vRealize Business for Cloud Advanced 7.x
VMware vRealize Business for Cloud Standard 7.x

Cause

This issue occurs when the reinitialize connections to vCenter server is incorrectly established after the upgrade.

Resolution

To resolve the issue:
 
  1. Take a snapshot of the vRealize Business virtual machine.
  2. Delete the vCenter server from vRealize Business.
  3. Initiate Cost Calculation from the Status screen for the system to process unprocessed data due to the error and to refresh the system.

    Note: Ensure that it completes by tailing /var/log/vrb/itfm-server/itfm-server.log file or when a pop-up appears on the UI saying Global synchronization is complete. Refresh the page to see the latest data. Click Yes on the pop-up screen.
     
  4. Refresh the page.
  5. Add the deleted vCenter server back to vRealize Business.

    Note: If you are using FQDN, ensure the FQDN is same as defined in the vCenter server certificate.
     
  6. Initiate data collection from the Status screen.
  7. Initiate Cost Calculation from the Status screen.

    Note: Ensure that it completes by tailing /var/log/vrb/itfm-server/itfm-server.log or when a popup appears on the UI saying Global synchronization is complete. Refresh the page to see the latest data. Click Yes on the pop-up screen.
     
  8. In the itfm-server.log file, verify that there are no WARN messages similar to:

    Please check vCenter rollup jobs are running properly on this vCenter server
     

Note: You must run the application overnight for the regular data collection and cost calculation to reflect on the Business Management tab.
