VIO experiences errors with MySQL database queries

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Instances will fail to deploy, networks will fail to be created, and images will failed to be uploaded with errors in the log similar to:

Lost connection to MySQL server during query ([Errno 110] Connection timed out

 

• On the database nodes of VMware Integrated OpenStack you will find the similar errors in /var/log/syslog:

Aborted connection 45964 to db: 'nova' user: 'nova' host: 'loadbalancer01' (Got an error reading communication packets)

Environment

VMware Integrated OpenStack 5.x
VMware Integrated OpenStack 4.x
VMware Integrated OpenStack 3.x

Cause

The underlying network is having issues for the VMware Integrated OpenStack environment.

Resolution

The physical network, ESXi networking, and/or NSX should be investigated immediately. Then the recovery on VMware Integrated OpenStack can begin after the underlying issue is resolved.
