Environment

VMware Cloud Director for Service Provider 9.x

Cause

no_root_squash setting on NFS share not enabled causing files that would otherwise have Root as the owner to be automatically updated to be owned by "Nobody" instead.

Resolution

Enable no_root_squash on NFS share.

Typically done by modifying /nfs line under /etc/exports on your NFS server to read:
/nfs [address range] (rw,sync,no_root_squash)

Note: Check with your storage admin for details regarding your specific server.
