HCX- Cold/vMotion migration failure with error "vMotion failed. Authenticity of the host's SSL certificate is not verified"

Issue/Introduction

Identify a known issue with HCX vMotion/Cold Migration post upgrading to version 4.8.x in the vCenter environment running 8.0.1.

Symptoms:
HCX Cold/vMotion migration failure occurs with below exceptions in the vCenter 8.0.1 environment.

 [VmotionService_SvcThread-18721, Ent: DEFAULT, , TxId: TxId: ba32f748-69a6-####-####-########22a] ERROR c.v.h.s.v.j.StartSourceSideRelocateVmWorkflow- [migId=<MIG ID>] Source side relocate failed for the virtual machine. error is Authenticity of the host's SSL certificate is not verified.

Resolution

The issue will be fixed in HCX upcoming release.

Workaround:
Disconnect and Re-connect the mobilityagent (MA) host in the respective vCenter where HCX Manager and IX Appliance version is running 4.8.x version.

Note: To disconnect and reconnect MA host, please un-select vMotion service from HCX Service Mesh wizard followed by re-selection of the vMotion service which will push the MA host to the vCenter.

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:

• The HCX Cold/vMotion/RAV migration will fail for environment where vCenter is running 8.0.1.
• There is no impact to Bulk migration workflow for vCenter 8.0.1.
• HCX Cold/vMotion/RAV will be functional for all other vCenter versions less than 8.0.1.
• There is no impact to HCX NE datapath services.
