Issue/Introduction

When moving a VM from one vApp to a new vApp a UI validation error is visible onscreen stating "Invalid network parameter: Unknown IP Addressing Mode".

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

During the migration of a VM from one vApp to another a network validation check is performed on the destination vApp to ensure it's correctly configured. This error occurs when a VM in the destination vApp has a network card which is connected to a network and has an IP Mode setting of "none".  A connected network card must have a valid IP Mode set. In earlier versions of Cloud Director an issue existed which allowed users to set an incorrectly connect a network card without a valid IP Mode.

Resolution

Review all networks cards on all VMs in the destination vApp. Any network card which is connected to a network and has an IP Mode setting of "none" needs to be changed to a valid configuration.
Valid configurations are "DHCP, "Static - Manual" or "Static - IP Pool".
