"Max limit reached" messages in vsfwd.log

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
When flow monitoring feature is enabled, vsfwd.log in ESXi host output warnings similar to:

2016-07-31T09:21:51Z vsfwd: [WARN] Max limit reached, so, clearing up active flow table

Note: The preceding log excerpts are only examples. Date, time, and environmental variables may vary depending on your environment.

Environment

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.4.x
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.2.x
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.3.x

Cause

This issue occurs because it is exceeding the limit of active or aggregated flows per vNic for the flow monitoring feature.

Resolution

This error message is benign and can be safely ignored.

This limitation is capped for only flow monitoring feature and does not take effect of distributed firewall.
