Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
After installation the Edge fails to boot because the boot record is not properly configured and the hardware attempts to boot to an older operating system.

Environment

VMware NSX-T 1.1.x
VMware NSX-T 1.0.x
VMware NSX-T
VMware NSX-T Data Center
VMware NSX-T Data Center 2.x

Cause

This issue occurs when an existing operating system was installed on a physical machine where a GPT partition scheme was used. The Edge installer does not remove the GPT and cause the NSX-T boot process to fail.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, fully erase the disk prior to installing the bare-metal Edge. This can be done with either a BIOS level RAID controller or tools such as GParted.
